Would a good example of history being useful is Kevin Rudd avoiding a recession? It's never going to be exactly the same, but you have the advantage of hindsight to navigate future decisions. Idk, the only war I got autistically invested in was 1812 because of war and peace. The book also gave me a better understanding that historical events are never a result of singular events or people. People didn't just wake up and say "oh hey let's all listen to Napoleon/Hitler/Stalin", the public was exposed to some kind of propaganda that led them to defend the leader. As someone who essentially studies propaganda for a living, I thought you would be able to defend the idea of studying historical events and their causes and understanding the roots.
