If you're looking for a bit of fiction, I'd recommend the Wool series by Hugh Howey. Its not relevant like 1984 is, but its still interesting to read through

Read Dostoevsky (C&P) obviously, and also the master and margarita is a great piece of Russian Literature. Also War and Peace is based, Ali. 1984 is based off of Zamyatin's "we" which is a good book to read if you want to understand 1984 better, the romance in it is better than Winston and Julia's too. Basically just read Russian literature, it's the best fiction.
